February 2010
GOJO describes its new PURELL skin nourishing foam hand sanitiser as “a breakthrough product” that meets World Health Organisation hygiene requirements while greatly improving skin condition.

It is designed to encourage better hand hygiene compliance by providing a luxurious, moisturising product clinically proven to improve skin condition in 14 days. The dual action foam combines 70% ethyl alcohol to kill “99.99% of most common germs”, and is reportedly proven to be effective against adenovirus and rotavirus according to EN14476. GOJO says it is the first product launched in a user-friendly formulation combining “the luxury of foam” with the moisturising performance of a hand lotion. Pre-launch skin performance tests undertaken in cardiac care units with measuring using a corneometer skin hydration instrument showed a hydration boost of 13.79% and 17.48% over baseline after two and four weeks respectively. GOJO says hospital-based tests also showed 80% of healthcare workers preferred it to their current hand sanitiser. Mike Sullivan, managing director, GOJO Industries Europe, said. “The new formulation removes in one stroke any worries that alcohol might dry out or irritate the skin.
