Electrical safety specialist, Bender UK, says its new purposebuilt headquarters in Ulverston, Cumbria is ‘a showpiece for advanced continuous monitoring technology’, enabling predictive maintenance of the building’s entire electrical infrastructure.
The facility is equipped with Bender residual current monitoring systems (RCMS), current transformers (CTs), Power Quality meters (PQM), and COM465 gateway devices. These permanently monitor the main distribution boards supplying the offices, plant/air-conditioning, and IT servers, provide real-time analysis of the building’s energy consumption, and forewarn of any developing electrical faults.
The new facility is also connected to Powerscout ‘intelligent cloud-based software’ developed by Bender, which delivers analysis, reporting, and live data, on the status of the building. Data can be accessed on site or remotely via web browsers, which particularly benefits remote users or NHS Trusts managing multiple sites. Bender says the technology ‘delivers significant benefits’ – such as enhanced knowledge of the entire electrical infrastructure, identifies both AC and DC fault currents (caused by chargers and switch mode power supplies), prevents downtime and power loss, provides enhanced site safety, and affords a reduction in engineering resource.
Managing director, Gareth Brunton, explained: “Bender’s innovative, high quality, technology solutions, combined with our new Powerscout webbased software, are set to make an impact in the healthcare market and other sensitive, zero failure sectors, where resilience of power supply is a critical factor. We are delivering reliability, availability, and safety to our customers. We have invested significantly in our own facility to show clients the tangible benefits that our technology will deliver.”
