The Merivaara Q-Flow surgical light is reportedly ‘impressing hospitals throughout the UK and Ireland with its elegant design, market-leading colour rendering, and ground-breaking shadow reduction capabilities’.
Manufactured in Finland, and distributed by Bender UK, the light has been installed in a number of Bender UK’s turnkey hospital projects, most recently at the new South Lakes Birth Centre at Cumbria’s Furness General Hospital. This new £12 m maternity facility includes two new operating theatres. Alongside the Q-Flow surgical lights, the facility is equipped with clinical pendants for power supply and gases, and touchscreen theatre control and nurse alarm panels. The group 2 critical care areas are also protected with Bender medical IT (IPS) and uninterruptible power (UPS) systems, providing patient and staff protection against loss of power.
Bender UK said: “Q-Flow has outstanding R9 colour rendering properties, which is imperative for the assessment of a patient’s condition. It produces daylight quality light, while the green ‘ambilite’ enables theatre staff to view images and monitors with ease. It also has a unique Dynamic Obstacle Compensation (DOC) system, which permits the light to adjust to obstacles in the field of view, delivering increased levels of illumination to the patient.
