HFC will again be attending HefmA’s national Conference & Exhibition, which takes place this year on 15 and 16 May at the Brighton Metropole Hotel.
Located on stand 92, HFC personnel will be happy to describe to visitors the organisation’s newest products and plans for the future, including how it will improve engagement with its members.
Training
A key area for development over the past 12 months has been the introduction of training courses, provided in conjunction with partner company, Grovenbridge Academy. Covering a wide range of topics, from premises assurance to first aid, the short courses also include a number that are Ofqual-accredited. The range is set to expand over the coming year, and to include new topics relevant to estates and facilities management. HFC members are eligible for a 50% discount on most.
Compliance
One of HFC’s recent areas of development has been the introduction of a comprehensive Fire Risk Assessment service. Based on an improved and expanded version of the PAS 79 Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) methodology, the service can be provided in several variations, ranging from a fully managed service, to a ‘software only’ solution, providing sufficient flexibility to meet varying needs, while ensuring compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO).
The Consortium is also working on ‘an innovative product that will collect and record detailed data from fire detection devices, actively analysing it for audit or maintenance purposes’ – to be available later this year.
Having already worked alongside the London Fire Brigade (LFB) to plan last year’s London Fire Concordat meeting, HFC has been invited into discussions with the Government’s advocate for the ‘Fire Kills’ and ‘Fire Mark’ campaigns, and Sir Ken Knight, the Government’s retiring senior fire and safety advisor, to co-host events at several regional locations UK-wide.
The HFC said: “Our intention is to promote better Fire Risk Assessment practices in the NHS by looking at the requirements of the RRO and the solutions available. The first of these events was held in the South-West of England in March, with further events to be announced via our website as soon as they are arranged.”
Services
Others services available to HFC members include the ‘popular’ Performance Analysis (Benchmarking) service, and the FM Document Exchange; the former now includes a free half-day of consultancy to members requiring guidance in interpreting or understanding their Trust’s performance in key areas, based on national averages.
