Environmental testing specialist, ALS Environmental, claims to have been one of the first UK environmental laboratories to both UKAS and DWTS accredit the ‘instant and informative confirmation approach’, MALDI-ToF, allowing the company to eliminate the confirmation stage in all microbial confirmations, ‘meaning no more false presumptives for Legionella’.
The company said: “Furthermore, the MALDI-ToF allows ALS Environmental to provide a full species identification in over 99% of environmental samples; with over 56 different species of Legionella identified, as opposed to fewer than 20 using the traditional agglutination kits.
