According to Rada – based on information from Public Health Wales – every year in England and Wales healthcare-associated infections claim 5,000 lives.
The company said: “The financial and resource demands this can place on a health service already under considerable pressure are significant. Any moist or aqueous environment within a healthcare setting can potentially serve as an incubator for waterborne microorganisms, which can result in acute contamination, infection, and subsequent cross-infection. “
