A refurbishment of the Wellesley ward at London’s Royal Hospital for Neuro-Disability (RHN) has seen Vistamatic supply a combination of its standard and ‘custom’ vision panels, working closely in conjunction with Projax Interiors.
The RHN is a charity, independent from the NHS, but which works closely with it, to provide the best possible care for people living with neuro-disability. The hospital’s specialist services support people in dedicated environments designed to best meet their needs. The hospital’s neuro-behavioural service (Wellesley ward) is a specialist inpatient ward for adults with challenging behaviour resulting from a brain injury. While the work undertaken there is of critical importance, the ward had not been refurbished for a number of years. A £1.5 m appeal was thus launched to modernise the ward – improving access, patient dignity, and privacy, and creating extra space for a range of physical and occupational therapies.
Projax Interiors, which provided doors, doorsets, cubicles, IPS, and bespoke joinery for the ‘refurb’ project, was specifically instructed to supply doorsets incorporating Vistamatic vision panels. The requirement was for bespoke ash windows with Vistamatic panels and custom joinery. Vistamatic provided 20 of its ‘custom’ Vista Max, and 29 of its standard, Vista Max vision panels for the project. All are FD30-compliant, and feature lever handle operation on one side only. The company also supplied five Vista Slide vision panels for larger viewing areas.
