Raychem self-regulating electrical heat-tracing systems are providing frost protection to exposed water service lines at Cranfield University’s new state-of-the-art health sector research and teaching facility on the University campus in Essex.

Tyco Thermal Controls distributor partner Astec was commissioned by the mechanical and electrical contractor Lorne Stewart to provide frost protection for all exposed pipework on the rooftop and plant room areas. Astec designed, supplied and installed Tyco Thermal Controls’ energy-efficient Raychem frost protection system using Raychem AT-TS-13 thermostatic controllers to activate the heating cables whenever ambient temperatures drop below 5°C.
