New platform to transforms hospital security through AI and integrated data/
Security solutions provider Synectics says it is helping NHS hospitals enhance safety, incident response, and operational efficiency through its Synergy platform and AI-powered analytics suite, Synergy Detect.
The company says, ‘Hospitals face a unique mix of pressures, including constant public access, high-risk clinical areas, and 24-hour operations across dispersed sites. Many also rely on legacy systems that make coordination difficult. Synectics’ approach enables healthcare providers to connect CCTV, access control, and alarm infrastructure into a single management platform, creating a complete view of activity across facilities, car parks, and service areas.’
Through Synergy’s central control interface and mobile app, security teams can dispatch officers, share live video, issue instructions, and track incident progress from report to resolution. This coordinated approach enables faster responses to safeguarding concerns, missing patients, and aggressive behaviour, while maintaining a full audit trail for compliance and review.
The Synergy Detect analytics suite adds an intelligent layer to hospital operations. It uses AI to identify and alert staff to emerging risks – such as overcrowding in waiting areas, unauthorised access to wards, missing PPE, or vehicles blocking ambulance bays. By detecting these issues in real time, hospitals can act before they escalate, improving safety standards and reducing pressure on stretched teams.
Synectics’ integrated approach has been used across several NHS Foundation Trusts.
A recent deployment of Synergy for a large NHS Foundation Trust shortlisted for the NAHS Security Innovation Award 2025, demonstrates the benefits of this integrated approach.
The project delivered situational awareness across multiple hospital sites, enabling real-time coordination between the control room and mobile officers while preserving the existing infrastructure.
Recognising the increasing cyber threats facing healthcare, Synergy incorporates end-to-end encryption, secure data pathways, and access controls to safeguard sensitive systems and evidence. Privacy features such as facial redaction and blurring further ensure compliance with NHS Digital and NCSC guidance.
Synectics’ Synergy and Synergy Detect solutions will be on show ar National Association for Healthcare Security (NAHS) Conference.
