Danish Clean Water (DCW) has developed an advanced disinfection system that controls biofilm, Legionella, Pseudomonas and other dangerous bacteria in hot and cold water systems but is completely harmless to people and the environment.
Historically, chlorine dioxide has been the most widely used water disinfection system, but it is a flawed solution - although effective, chlorine dioxide is hazardous as it is highly flammable and reactive.
DCW has an alternative.
The DCW electro-chemical activation (ECA) unit uses just simple non-toxic water, salt and electricity to produce NEUTHOX®, a powerful, proven disinfectant that controls Legionella and Pseudomonas. The active ingredient in NEUTHOX® is hypochlorous acid (HOCI), which is odourless and non-corrosive and returns to simple biodegradable salt and water. NEUTHOX® has been approved by the Drinking Water Inspectorate and its use is cited in HSG274 Part 2. It is also fully ECHA Article 95 compliant and listed.
The DCW unit is highly effective, with research showing that NEUTHOX® technology eliminates Legionella to below the limit of detection. It also prevents the formation of new biofilm in the water piping system. Its use delivers a measurable reduction of Legionella after just a few weeks, helping hospitals to comply with the guidelines of HTM 04-01.
The DCW unit is also very cost-efficient. It uses cheap and easily available salt and water and has running costs significantly lower than any other similar technologies on the market - just 1.6 pence per m3 of treated water.
