A £1.4 million project to create the
Churchill Gisburn Clinic adult psychiatric
facility in Lancashire has been completed
for Covenant Healthcare by contractor
Multibuild. The acute psychiatric unit has
been designed to provide male patients
with a tranquil environment and consists
of 16 private bedrooms with en-suite
facilities, a communal day room, dining
room, gymnasium, games room, therapy
rooms and consultation rooms.
Multibuild worked with architect Manning Elliott of Penrith to deliver the 32-week project on time. A key brief for Multibuild was to ensure that the building’s exterior was sympathetic to that of the original 18th century brickwork, rendering and stone, in order to preserve the character of the setting.
Multibuild contract manager for the project Paul Mathison said: “Special care was taken in the management of the site, because of the proximity of the existing medical facilities, to minimise noise and disruption to the operation of the business.”
Following its success in this project and others in the healthcare sector, the company is also working on the £1.2 million contract to design and build a new 10-bed Special Needs Centre in Stoke-on-Trent.
