A three-month consultation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) on its new strategy “The Health and Safety System of Great Britain\Be Part of the Solution”, ends on 2 March, giving those with a key safety remit within healthcare just under a month to make their views known.

HSE’s decision to develop a new strategy was prompted by factors including the recent slowing of improvement in Great Britain’s health and safety performance; the “changing industrial landscape”; the “different risks posed by new sectors”, and the “need to regain the health and safety brand from those who misuse it to proliferate bureaucracy.” The strategy and supporting documents are available online at: www.hse.gov.uk/ strategy, with hard copies available on request from Emma Beals, T: 0207 717 6526.
