JAV Medical Systems gains B Corp certification

North West–based medtech company JAV Medical Systems has achieved B Corp certification, reportedly becoming the first in its sector to receive the recognition.

The accreditation, awarded by the non-profit organisation B Lab, is given to businesses that meet verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. Companies are assessed across five areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers.

JAV Medical Systems develops the Integrated Theatre of Things (ITOT), a digital operating theatre system designed to cut energy consumption by up to 75 per cent compared with conventional setups. The company said this can help hospitals lower operating costs and support Net Zero targets.

The B Corp certification adds to a number of recent honours for JAV, including being named a Great Place to Work UK and inclusion on the Liverpool City Region Tech Climbers 2025 list. The business has installations across 13 European countries and has recently secured orders for more than 50 operating theatres in the UK, Norway and Germany.

Managing director Ingo Aicher said: “We are extremely proud to become the first certified B Corp in our field. This milestone reflects our team’s dedication to conducting business responsibly and our belief that companies should play a meaningful role in shaping a better future.

“What sets us apart is not just our technology, it’s scale. As a small company, we have the agility to innovate rapidly and the integrity to embed sustainability into every decision.

“Our success demonstrates that small businesses driven by purpose can lead change.”
