Groundbreaking ceremony for new Wycombe Hospital building

A groundbreaking ceremony has been held at the site of a new six-storey building at Wycombe Hospital.

The new building will enable core services to be moved out of the current Wycombe Tower Block, which Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust describes as ‘unfit for long-term use’. Construction is expected to complete by Spring 2027.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust chair, David Highton, Countess Howe, the chairman of Buckinghamshire Council Cllr Sarfaraz Khan Raja, the leader of Buckinghamshire Council, Steven Broadbent, the Mayor of High Wycombe, Cllr Majid Hussain, Emma Reynolds MP, Greg Smith MP, St John Ambulance Lord Lieutenant Cadet Rhys Lewis, and Adam Robertson, director of construction partner MTX.

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust chief executive, Raghuv Bhasin, said: “The Wycombe Hospital site has been in dire need of redevelopment for many years. This new building will move critical services out of the ageing tower block and into a purpose-built environment, giving Buckinghamshire residents state-of-the-art facilities in which to receive crucial, life changing care.”
