IHEEM navigates contingency and resilience in Wales

We at Health Estate Journal very much enjoyed our time at IHEEM annual Wales Regional Conference, Exhibition and Gala Awards Dinner this week.

Over two days at the International Conference Centre at (ICC) in Newport, South Wales, IHEEM – in partnership with its Welsh Branch and NHS Wales, Shared Services Partnership, Specialist Estate Services – focused on strengthening healthcare estates to meet evolving challenges through improved planning, innovation, and workforce development.

Key themes included:

  • Resilience and contingency – strengthening systems to respond to disruption and emerging risks.
  • Resilience in the workforce – developing capable, adaptable teams to support sustainable estates operations.
  • Estates manager toolbox – practical tools and insights to address daily and long-term estate challenges.
  • PFI: returning assets to the NHS – understanding the transition process and its operational implications.

The event was the perfect opportunity for HEJ to put faces to names, network with past, present, and future contributors, and meet with the IHEEM team, as well as sit down for a wonderful meal at The Gala Awards Dinner on Wednesday evening at the Celtic Manor Golf Club.

Look forward to further coverage of this special event – and the awards winners – in the June edition of Health Estate Journal.
