Building Design Partnership was voted “Health Building Architect of the Year” in the 2005 Architect of the Year Awards held in London last November. The awards scheme aims to identify the most outstanding architects across a range of different types of design work, and the awards in eleven categories were presented to the firms that are delivering the best and most consistent work.
BDP awarded for architecture
The judging panel, unusual among architectural awards, was comprised of the country’s most powerful and influential clients in each category. They said of BDP: “The practice has displayed a range and depth of work fuelled by a serious research effort, which has particularly paid off in the area of children’s hospitals.” The judges said it had shown a real progression working with the client to produce better health buildings.
